Background
OLX is the world's leading classifieds platform in growth markets. OLX founded a global technology hub in Berlin, aimed to create platform services, serving all the properties they own globally (30+).
A big part of OLX’s engineering talent and services were backend focused. Makers’ Den was employed to strengthen the frontend capabilities of certain teams within OLX Berlin.

“Makers' Den plays a key role in building our centralized moderation system, integrating multiple user and content moderation flows from all our global verticals. They are delivery-focused, consistently shipping high-quality solutions. We found in them a partner we can trust to make the right architectural, technological, and personnel decisions to best support our business interests.”
How we worked together
We worked with OLX in multiple contexts, but the biggest project was implementing the front end of their moderation system. In this case, we amended their team, taking responsibility for all frontend portions. We adapted to OLX’s processes fully and took part in all their ceremonies just like regular full-time employees. Our commitment in this case was well over a year.
The Tech
Typescript - We aim to do everything with Typescript, and it’s what we’re really good at.
ReactJS - The frontend framework of our choice. Usually a central part of all our projects.
GraphQL - The chosen API layer technology in this case. It was the right tool for the job in this particular case.
The results
OLX has revenue in the billions and global users in the hundreds of millions. With this scale, even minor issues are major problems, and it’s a delight to work in the sort of conditions where even minute engineering details matter. The foundation we set for their moderation frontend architecture is a solid foundation that will serve OLX for years forward.
