Background
Y-tu, a forward-thinking Spain based Solar Panel installation company, set out to revolutionize the B2B photovoltaics space. With a keen focus on enabling any company owning their own property to easily get an estimate for photovoltaics and further provide effortless funding for their installation, Y-tu provides a win-win for any company wanting to improve their own Co2 footprint as well as benefit economically at the same time.
How we worked together
Makers’ Den have supported Youdera on multiple frontend projects previously, including marketing websites, photovoltaic installation support tools as well as solar calculators. Youdera has a stellar tech team internally, but to expedite faster time to market we were given the chance to support them on the frontend development portions for their new Spanish B2B photovoltaics brand. Naturally we jumped at the opportunity.

Pedro Miranda
CEO at Youdera (parent of Y-tu)
“We highly recommend Maker's Den to anyone looking for a reliable, professional, and proactive development partner.”
Youdera had created a high fidelity design of the new Y-tu website as well as its new customer portal. We treated them as separate projects and delivered separate quotes for each. The website was the natural starting point for implementation so promotions could start early.
In the initial kickoff developers and customer stakeholders met, we went through the UX design, schedule and the first tasks to be worked on the Asana board, and set up our meeting cadence with one weekly virtual meeting; and ad-hoc messaging via a shared Slack channel.
Week by week demos were held and progress was made; until the day of the marketing launch. Similarly for the Portal. Even though designs were delivered before implementation, there were a lot of changes along the way as is to be expected in any development project.
The Technical Setup
We were dealing with two different projects, but wanted to keep the tech stack cohesive so we’d be able to re-use portions and maintenance would be more straightforward.
ReactJS. We’re a ReactJS shop, and all our projects are built on top of it.
Typescript. Many of us are a decade into using it, and there’s no looking back. All our frontends and backends are always done in strictly typed Typescript.
NextJS. It’s the biggest React framework, backed by Vercel who also employs many of the React core contributors. It’s suitable for both Marketing websites and Web apps, so it was the natural choice.
TanStack Query. For managing state from the server on the frontend, it’s the best and most popular library.
ShadCN/RadixUI/TailwindCSS. Our styling & component approach on all frontends. ShadCN is the biggest component library ecosystem right now and growing.
Storyblok. For content management needs, we opt for the Headless CMS with the best usability, Storyblok. This was important in the marketing website, but was also useful to manage content in some portions of the portal.
