Background
Travellers today are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of flight options available across various airlines and destinations. Even with existing travel platforms, users still invest significant time and effort in manually comparing options and planning their trips.
Dataiera creates a new paradigm of travel planning by merging flight aggregation and other travel options with artificial intelligence. The platform provides personalized recommendations and smart travel insights, enabling users to book their ideal trip effortlessly planning out their trip visually on a canvas or simply by conversing with an AI.

Requirements
The goal of the project for Makers' Den was to develop a versatile and responsive client-side application that integrates with Dataiera backend to deliver new pioneering user experiences for the travel industry. The design of the application was provided by a third-party company.
How we started off
The CTO of Dataiera, Peter Marriott, a well known veteran of the travel industry and its technical details, sought after an agency who could deliver their vision on the frontend part. Makers' Den filled the role perfectly.
We started things off with a kickoff meet, where our team and all the stakeholders got together. The client showed us the first drafts of the wireframes and user flows, and we had an open discussion where we asked lots of questions to make sure we were all on the same page. Some details still needed to be worked out as we went along, but this meeting gave us a good starting point for the project.
Technical Setup
To facilitate fast delivery and maintain high code quality, we've built the application using:
ReactJS - A modern, component-based UI library for building user interfaces
TypeScript - For type-safe development and better developer experience
Vite - A next-generation frontend build tool that offers lightning-fast
TanStack Query (React Query) - For efficient server state management and data fetching, seamlessly integrating with our .NET backend through type-safe API calls and automatic caching, ensuring optimal performance and data consistency.
TanStack Router - A type-safe routing solution for React applications
shadcn/ui - A collection of re-usable components built using open source primitives and styled with Tailwind CSS
React Flow - An interactive canvas library for visualizing and planning trip schedules with drag-and-drop functionality
Azure/Azure DevOps - For source control, CI/CD, project management, and hosting our application on Azure's cloud infrastructure, providing scalable and reliable deployment solutions.
How we worked together
We maintained consistent communication and collaboration throughout the project. We held weekly meetings to share progress updates and plan upcoming tasks. For daily updates and real-time collaboration, we used Slack. Additionally, we worked together on developing new features, which involved exchanging input and ideas. This consistent communication ensured alignment, allowing us to address challenges promptly and maintain progress. Furthermore, it facilitated coordination with the backend team through shared planning and technical discussions, as well as with the design team through regular feedback and design reviews.
The Results
Makers' Den delivered a solid foundation for the frontend of the travel planning platform. With the core features in place and the initial phase wrapped up, we're committed to continuing the collaboration, building upon the foundations to expand the platforms capabilities.
We're eager to continue working together with Dataiera to deliver ground breaking user experiences the travel industry has never seen before.
